The Expendables 3 Movie EX3 Movie August 2. So, first week after the release has passed and from all three EX movies EX3 opened worst by far. Only 1. 6 million US Box. Office on opening weekend and so far worldwide only 4. Just to compare, EX2 opened with 2. US and took overall cca. I somehow think that will be really hard for EX3.

If they managed to cover the expenses of making it and marketing, it will be a small miracle. Why did it bombed? I can only speculate, but for the sake of speculations I think 3 things. First one is the cast. To make a whole EX3 cast poster they almost needed a panoramic image to get everyone in one picture. The movie is so overcrowded that most of the side cast gets so little screen time you don't even remember they were in the movie. The "new blood" cast was total mistake.

They bring nothing to the movie, even though I respect their real careers, I would trade them all for just 2 minutes of Jackie Chan. Second. one is PG- 1. Like what the hell was that? I want blood, curses and destruction in large quantity from Expendables movie. And what do I get, not a single drop of blood.

I'm not sure what was the reason for changing rating on the third movie, but the whole point of this franchise was the old 8. PG- 1. 3. Even though today you can push PG- 1.

R rated, I didn't get that vibe from EX3. So pretty much they shot themself in a foot with rating change since the kids born in this century were not really the targeted audience. Hell, today R rated comedies make more money. Third one is weak story. Ok, to be honest those type of movies never were strong on story, but c'mon for a 1. I think you can afford little more exotic places for shooting. I don't think theres something wrong with shooting in Bulgaria, but we have been there in EX2.

Another Virtualstan country where the story is going on is kinda boring. Thing worth mentioning is leaked DVD screener 3 weeks before premiere. Even though it prolly did do some damage, I don't think majority people who downloaded the movie would go see it in cinema anyway.
