I really wanted to understand this character," Ayoade says. I don't think I related to the Christian Bale character in 'The Fighter,' but I'm certainly fascinated by that character and think it's brilliant and really interesting."As strong as newcomer Roberts is in the lead role, it's really Sally Hawkins who steals the show as Oliver's reserved, but caring mother (well, caring as much as she can).

Most moviegoers on this side of the Atlantic know Hawkins from her Oscar nominated performance in "Happy- Go- Lucky" or last fall's "Made in Dagenham." Her work in "Submarine" will seem like a big departure to most, but not to Ayoade. He notes, "She's one of those people who can do anything. She's just really imaginative. She's just got a very big range. It would never be a concern she could do it at all.

I guess, to me, 'Happy- Go- Lucky' seemed to be the exception in the way as in it's not quite how I imagined her before seeing that film, but I guess that's become a kind of key note performance [for her]."Ayoade continues, "She's a bit like Diane Keaton in a way. People who do comedy don't tend to do much other stuff, but they really can.

When you think of Diane Keaton you think of how great she is in all those Woody Allen films, but in the 'Godfather' it's such a different performance. So, like Keaton, Sally's one of those people who can do anything."Almost completely unknown in the U. S., Ayoade has been a key player in the British comedy scene for years writing, directing and starring in TV series such as "The It Crowd," "The Mighty Boosh" and "Man to Man with Dean Learner." Currently working an adaptation of "The Double," Ayoade took some time out earlier this year to direct one of the more acclaimed and memorable episodes of NBC's "Community" this season, "Critical Film Studies."The almost 3. London native says that because the show was such a "one- off" it gave him more freedom to do something different than a typical "Community" episode."It was shot on a set that had never been in the show before. It had the allusions of 'My Dinner with Andre,' so it had a certain stand alone nature of that episode," Ayoade says. Director Ron Howard begins by saying that he has discovered a long- lost movie of the week based on Donald Trump's bestselling book The Art of the Deal, that was written by, directed by and stars Trump himself. The film starts in 1.

Donald Trump's office holding a copy of the book The Art of the Deal. Trump must then take a call from Merv Griffin, who refuses to sell him Taj Mahal Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. Trump then describes his background and personal history in order to educate the young boy. Chapter 1: The Art of Intimidating Rent Controlled Tenants, which takes place in 1. Trump meets a homeless vagrant and convinces him to scare away the tenants of one of the buildings he owns. Chapter 2: The Art of Defeating Totally Bogus Discrimination Lawsuits features Trump in 1. Mayor of New York City, Ed Koch.

He agrees with club owner Igor Cassini that he won't sleep with any of the wives of the other club members. Trump recruits Roy Cohn to help him fight discrimination charges, which they win. Jerry Schrager becomes Trump's new lawyer after Cohn dies of AIDS. After performing a rap about litigation with hip- hop group The Fat Boys, Trump introduces Chapter 3: The Art of Suing Those Losers at the NFL. He recounts his feud with Pete Rozelle over the New Jersey Generals, which causes Trump to sue Rozelle for breaking anti- trust laws.

A judge rules in favor of Trump. After learning that the young boy is named Jose, Trump cuts to commercial and has him replaced with an Asian- American boy. Trump's wife Ivana enters the office, talking about her time working at the Trump Castle in Atlantic City. Trump then introduces Chapter 4: The Art of Buying a Casino from the Hilton Family, which recounts Trump traveling to meet Barron Hilton, who sells him a casino. In Chapter 5: The Art of Marrying a Gorgeous Immigrant, he recounts his wedding to Ivana in 1. ALF. Trump once again tries to negotiate for the Taj Mahal with Griffin, to no avail. Walter Hoving in order to discuss the air rights above his building. Protesters from the Metropolitan Museum of Art protest Trump destroying valuable Art Deco sculptures, but he is apathetic to their concerns. After the boy tells Trump everything he's learned from him, Merv Griffin finally relents and sells Trump the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.
